Winter Lip Products

It is finally December and you know what that means? Winter is here! One of my favorite parts of Winter is getting to change up the colors that I use in my makeup. To me, Winter means lots of rich, deeper colors and there is no place that I think works better for those colors than lips. Today I wanted to share some of my favorite Winter lip products with you!

This is a beautiful, high pigment lip color. It is in a rich purple/red color. It isn't too sticky and it lasts well. I find it looks best layered over a similar color lip liner to create a bold lip.

I love using matte liquid lipsticks, especially during busy times like the holidays. This one is incredibly long lasting and doesn't loose any of it's color. It would be perfect for a holiday party or any occasion like that. It is a very deep red color that has plum undertones. Also at $9 it is a steal!

If you are not as bug of a fan of intense red or berry lips, a darker nude color can be perfect. It still gives you a really rich lip color while allowing you to do a more dramatic eye look because it isn't as dramatic.

Why yes, I do blame Zoe Sugg for this lipstick. I bought it ages ago because she was talking about it and it has become not just one of my favorite winter lip colors but one of my all time favorite lip colors. It is matte without being too drying and it is very long lasting. I love red lips but am not a fan of the bright red or orange red colors. I much prefer berry reds or slightly brown toned reds and this is perfect for that. It is also a huge bargain at under $5.

This one isn't matte. Bet you didn't see that coming. It's no secret that I love a good matte lip color. I typically lean towards matte colors because they are longer lasting. However, I have found a glossy color with amazing stay power. Now, I wouldn't get carried away and say it lasts 24 hours like the package says, but it lasts a lot longer than most. I also love that there is a conditioning balm built in. The color Always Blazing also is a very true bright red if you like those colors more than the deeper red colors that I love so much.

Those are 5 of my favorite Winter/Holiday lip colors. I would love to know what some of your favorites are so make sure to leave a comment or tweet me because I am always looking for new ones to try!

A Few of My Favorite Things || Perfume Collection

I went through the first 14 years of my life thinking that all perfume smelled like over saturated flowers and that it was only something worn by old ladies. You can imagine my surprise when I entered the world of beauty and found the amazing world that in Perfume. Because of my earlier exposure, I find myself drawn to more fruity, light scents and less intense floral ones. I have come across a couple in the last few years that I absolutely love.

The first was a 16th birthday present from my parents. I got a sample of it because Taylor Swift is one of my favorite singers in the world. I was surprised to find that I was completely in love with the smell. It is light and fruity with some slight floral notes and a little bit of sweetness. When I got a full sized bottle of Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift for my birthday it made me ecstatic. I also have some travel sized sprays of it that are perfect for travel and my bag.

The bottle is also as cute as can be and I love displaying it on my vanity.

There is a fun and slightly emotional story behind my next favorite. I had wanted to get Lady Gaga's Fame since I got a sample in my Ulta catalog. At the time I wasn't working because of my health and had no money to get it so I put it off. When I got to open for Little Mix in Miami (if you don't know the story, you can read it here) I decided that I was going to treat myself while shopping and buy the $20 roller ball. I was in Sephora about to get it when they showed me a set with a full 3.4 oz bottle and roller ball for a great price, but I couldn't justify spending the money. My parents bought it for me as a gift to remember that amazing weekend. Now, every time that I wear it, I get brought back to that weekend and it makes me instantly happy.

The scent is edgy but still light and I think the bottle is very pretty. While I was in New Jersey this winter I found a sale set that had a 1.7 oz bottle, a roller ball and the matching lotion for $22. I now wear this almost every day and don't have to worry about running out soon!

Those two are the ones I wear the most but I have a few that I use when I am looking to switch it up.

The first was a gift from when a family friend went to Italy. Being as picky as I am about scents, I didn't think I would like it. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the floral scent.

I don't use this as much because it irritates my dad's allergies, but when I am going to be out for the whole day, I like to wear this one for a nice change.

The Stila Mandarin Mist roller ball was also a gift. It came in a set of three but this one is my favorite. I keep this in my bag and use it on days when I run out of the house without putting any perfume on. It is a great mix of fruity and floral but still light enough to wear on a regular basis. I don't know if this is still available because it was a limited edition set, but you may be able to find it!

This last one I got many years ago and I doubt is still available. It was a freebie from Seventeen Magazine if you brought the ad into an Aeropostale store. It is a very sweet, citrus scent and was perfect for me at 14. It is still nice if I feel like something a little more fun.

What are your go to scents? Are there any that you avoid like the plague? Let me know! I am always looking for new ones and also looking for ones to keep away from! Thanks for reading, I'll see you tomorrow!

Top 5 Favorite Lipsticks

I was never one to wear any lip color until recently. I would wear minimal lip gloss if anything at all. In the last year or so I have entered the beautiful and colorful world that is lip stick! I love wearing them and love the color it can bring to my face in less than a second. I have tried so many shades to try to find the perfect ones for me. I have lots of ones that I love but I have some current faves. Also, forgive the fact that I look insane in these pics, it has been a long day.

1. Rimmel London Kate Moss in shade 14

2. NYX Lipstick in Narcissus

3. Ulta Lipstick in shade 204

4. Ulta Matte Lipstick in 252

5. Elf Matte Lip Color in Rich Red

What is your favorite lipstick? I am always looking for new ones to try so please let me know!

New Lip Obsession

Morning blog friends! I'm afraid I have some catching up to do today, things have been a tad crazy on my part. Also I just wanted to let you know that I am going to be on vacation from December 18th to January 4th. I am going to try to queue as many post as I can for that time but if there is a break in posting, at least you know why. But now, on to the fun things!!

On Black Friday I was in Ulta and got distracted by a display of a new product. I tested it and fell in love and had to buy it. This product was the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm. All I can say is that this product is amazing. I got it in the color Unapologetic and it is a beautiful orangy, pink coral color. It is crazy pigmented and even with eating and drinking, the color lasts like a stain. It doesn't feel tacky or sticky and I pretty much forget I am wearing it, a nice treat for such a pigmented, rich color. I also love that it is truly matte.

The color I have is the second from the top.

It is easy to apply and I don't have to worry about repplication all the time. I am loving this and give it a total A+.

Give it a try and let me know what you think! Hope you are having a fantastic day!

Hello again?

Well you know what they say, the third time is the charm. I think I am going to give this blog thing another try because I absolutely love reading blogs. The next few months should be a bit wild and even if no one reads it, I'll be glad to have this to look back on. So I hope that if you are reading this you come along for the ride with me. My life is not exactly normal and there may be some people out there that find it kind of interesting. I know this was short but I wanted to keep the "I'm starting again" post short. I am going to be posting a pretty cool post about something amazing that happened and trust me, you will want to read it.
I hope you are having a wonderful night.
Lots of love,
Kelsey <3

5 Beauty Items I Can't Live Without

There are so many fantastic beauty products that I couldn't even begin to put them all in one post so I thought I would start off with my top 5. These products are ones that I have been using for a long time and love. They span makeup, skincare, and hair. Hopefully this will inspire you to try at least one of these products.

1. Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-In-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector

This is by far my favorite foundation or bb cream. I have tried many and I always come back to this one. I actually received a sample of it and didn't think much of it so I just put it in my drawer. One day I ran out of my other bb cream so I thought I would give it a try and I LOVED it. The coverage was enough to blur any blemishes I had but it still felt light and natural. I am on my 3rd one and I know it won't be my last. I wear the shade medium.

2. Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

I was late on the Naked Palette train. I never bought the first one and I wasn't going to get the 2nd. I ended up buying it with a gift card after the Tarte one I wanted was sold out. It turns out that was one of the best things. All of the colors are amazing and pigmented. I use every single color and there are so many combinations. This is what I take with me any time I go anywhere and it is perfect. I can't imagine not using it.

3. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

I have to do a lot to keep my skin clear and it is a rather intense process. This is the first thing I use in the morning before I do my makeup and part of my nighttime skin routine. It is a great cleanser and keeps my skin nice and soft. I love it and have two bottles of it one in my shower and one by the sink. I give it an A++

4. Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum

This is a life saver. My hair is a major pain and frizzy. I put this in before I straighten or curl my hair and it keeps it shiny and not frizzy. I have frizzy, hard to manage hair and this keeps it nice all day.

5. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick-Kate Moss Collection in shade 014

This is my go to lipstick. It is a pinky nude color. It looks great by itself or you can put a nude or clear sparkly gloss over it to spice it up a little. I always carry this with me in my bag and I probably wear it 7/10 times that I wear lipstick.

There were so many more products that I could have picked but these are my top 5 everyday products.
